Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd has published its Annual Report and Accounts for 2010/11.
Managing director Simon Middlemas described it as a good year for the company.
“We have had a really good year cleaning up the nuclear legacy of the site safely and without damaging the environment during a period where we have had a considerable disruption caused by the competition for the Parent Body Organisation,” he said.
“Two thirds of the site’s highest hazard, the radioactive liquid metal coolant known as NaK, has been destroyed. Our safety record continues to improve, with the British Safety Council awarding DSRL an International Award.
"Our workforce, including our sub contractors, have delivered all we have asked of them and we have supported them and the local community to prepare for the day when the site is gone.”
