Some of Britain’s leading suppliers of technology to the nuclear industry are at Dounreay today for the site’s annual trade exhibition.
More than 50 companies are taking part in the event inside a temporary marquee next to the site.
The event was opened by Tony Wratten, deputy managing director of Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd.
He said: "All organisations – certainly Government-funded organisations like ourselves – are being challenged to find quicker, cheaper, safer ways of doing things and technology can really play its part.
"We got a good funding settlement from the NDA. It allows us to make good progress with decommissioning. If we can identify some different technologies we can do even more, more quickly."
The annual Technology and Innovation Exhibition is organised by Nu-Tech Associates.
