Demolition of "atomic factory" broadcast via Internet

Demolition of the fuel fabrication plant

>Demolition of Scotland’s “atomic factory” is now being broadcast on the Internet.

This was the name given to the 1950s complex of chemical plants built for the manufacture, examination and reprocessing of fuel irradiated in reactors.

The public cannot get into Dounreay to see these plants being dismantled because of the hazardous nature of the work and the need to protect nuclear materials.

So clean-up company DSRL has turned to video to open up this work to a wider audience.

Among the first videos to be posted on-line is a three-minute film about decommissioning the fuel fabrication plant.

The videos are produced in-house by the project teams, the communications department and graphic services at site sub-contractor Johnson Controls.
