The liquid metal destruction plant at DFR

A new monthly performance report is published today by Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd.

It reports progress to clean out and demolish the fast reactor experiment across a range of key measures.

The first edition – 04/08 Performance - focuses on the steps being taken to destroy two of the biggest radiological and chemical hazards at the site.

At the experimental Dounreay Fast Reactor, the first batches of the heavily contaminated liquid metal coolant have been destroyed during active commissioning of a clean-up plant.

At the larger Prototype Fast Reactor, the bulk of the liquid metal is now in the final stages of destruction.

The monthly report captures progress across a range of key delivery, production, safety and environmental indicators.

Hard copies of the report will be distributed as an insert to the monthly site newspaper Dounreay News
