Dounreay police help kids learn about safety

Dounreay officials have been helping local organisations educate hundreds of local youngsters about everyday dangers in their lives.

They were supporting Safe Highlander, a two-day event for primary seven school children held in Wick.

The event provides a platform for agencies such as the police, fire service, NHS, Highland Council, the coastguard and SSPCA to get across important messages about personal safety.

Officers from the Civil Nuclear Constabulary also took part in the event, which was opened by Simon Middlemas, managing director of Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd.

DSRL played a key role in the organisation of the annual event, which this year drew approximately 300 children to the town’s Assembly Rooms.
